Commented Issue: Does not boot on Hyper-V [1294]

I have built Singularity and now i'm trying to boot it on Hyper-V (Windows Server 2008 x64)
I boot from World.Prototype.LegacyPC.MarkSweep.Min.MarkSweep.iso. It writes 1a2345 and nothing else.
 
On Virtual PC it boots correctly.
 
Is it possible to launch this OS on Hyper-V?

On Windows 8 Pro (Hyper-v), I'm getting the following error:
BL: Unrecognized kill action 0xFFFFFFFF!
BL: Halt! blsingularity.cpp(720)

What's the issue here?

Ubuntu 9.04, VirtualBox. 2GB ram, 3Ghz Hyperthreaded Processor.
 
When booting the ISO in VBox, I'll first get a error from VBoxI had to enable PAE/NX. This is not a problem, expect that VBox couses total cpu consumpsion, freezing the desktop, and causing me to reboot the pc using the reset button.
 
After fixing PAE/NX, same thing, I booted the VM giging it the lowest priority possible, to let it not freeze my desk again. Ok, fine, everything worked, untill this message showed up. There my session ended with Singularity.

In Windows 8 you have Hyper-V, but also have the same problem.

Hi Alex,

I have followed all the instructions from #3394 and http://singularity.codeplex.com/discussions/48921. This is a Windows 7 x64 host machine, running Virtualbox.

I am still seeing the error:

BL: Unrecognized kill action 0xFFFFFFFF!
BL Halt! blsingularity.cpp(720)

Has anyone been able to get Singularity working in Virtualbox? Virtual PC is no longer available for Windows 8, and I hope there will be a way to continue running Singularity in the future. Any help is appreciated.

I tried to boot singularity using Sun Virtual Box and when Its booting it shows error saying: "MM: Unable to allocate 9E1A000 bytes!"
and a line beyond that it shows error saying: "BL: Halt! blmm.cpp(306)".

The error is because the insufficient RAM memory reserved to the Singularity. Try to expand the reserved memory to 256 MB and reboot.

The Singularity needs more than 9E1A000 bytes allocated in RAM memory (in hexadecimal).

I created a simple service, and a contract to go with it, and added it to tiny.proj, when I tried msb-ing the distro, it crashed the build program, showed me an error dialog (see error.txt in zip file attached) and then showed me this error message:

C:\Users\Joshua\Programming\Projects\OS\Singularity\base\Targets\SingSharp.targets(513,5): error MSB3073: The command [.....] Directory.Contracts.dll" "SampleContract.sg"" exited with code 1. (See error.txt for remainder of error message)

I haven't yet determined if my contract was valid or not, (I thought it was when I started) but I figured that there had to be some kind of internal error on top of whatever I had gotten wrong.

I tried using the debug button, but apparently the code in question resides on someone else's computer and was pre-complied for the rdk.

To duplicate the error, use a clean copy of the rdk (I got mine from repo) then add the folder 'MyService' (from MyService.zip) to the apps folder and try to build the tiny.proj (also from MyService.zip).

I'll update this issue once I find out if I made any mistakes in my contract that msb was trying to compile.

I was using these settings when I tried building tiny.proj, but I don't think it matters:

Trying to run singularity on VMWare Workstation 6.5.0.

Screenshot right before error is in attachment. Then singularity wrote:

1 or 2 CPU (doesn't matter)
512 Mb RAM
Up to 8 Gb IDE HDD (start not allocated)
Sound, floppy powered off
No networking

What would it take to get Sing to run under VirtualBox? Having to run two pieces of VM hosting software is inconvenient.

There is a problem handling fonts on 640x400 rezolution. It could be possible that also on 800x600 this problem may exist.

Ok vesa works on VMWare. You just have to enable it in blentry.cpp. See attached image. Hmm.. Why is it disabled? something to do with acpi?? I have to search for this after I get pong running.

Hi,

As stated in the related discussion there are actually 2 problems:

1. amlparser is not fully implemented so the acpi handling must be disabled (comment the define at the beginning of the RegisterPC.cs file <- I think that's the file)
2. some problem in the rtclock handling if 2 cpus are active in the vm so you should have only one

It seems that "DefObjectType" is not supported. I have no experience regarding acpi. Still hope it helps.
